About the Bolivar Point Lighthouse
The historic lighthouse featured in this fall’s conference is located in Point Bolivar, near Galveston Bay. It was originally built in 1852 but was later pulled down during the Civil War. Its second structure was constructed in 1872 and still stands today. The lighthouse served as a safe haven for over 120 Bolivar residents at the height of the Great Hurricane of 1900. After 61 years of service, the lighthouse was officially retired in May 1933 and is now privately owned. Learn More…
